'Prison Islam' in American jails troubles experts PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 22 February 2009

It was small story in a local newspaper called the Daily Herald out of Everett, Washington, but it spread quickly around the internet, thanks to that startling claim.

The paper's February 2009 investigation declared that so-called "prison Islam" was the fastest-growing religious group in U.S. correctional facilities.

Some of those worshippers claim affiliation with the Nation of Islam (NOR), a black separatist movement that was launched and promoted by two convicts, Elijah Mohammed and his protégé Malcolm X. Strictly speaking, however, NOR has little in common with orthodox Islam; it is more accurately described as a political pseudo-religion, held up to African-Americans as an alternative to "pacifist" "Eurocentric" Christianity.   SOURCE ARTICLE

‘Nation of Islam’ movement wants Muslims at the center of Russian political life PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 15 February 2009

A group of politically radical but not fundamentalist Muslims has set up a new movement, the Nation of Islam, to help Russia overcome its current economic and moral crisis by promoting internationalism, the protection of Gastarbeiters, and the inclusion of Russia’s more than 20 million Muslims in the country's political life.

Last Sunday, delegates from 42 cities and towns in Bashkortostan met in Ufa in response to an appeal by two politically radical figures, Geidar Dzhemal, the leader of the Islamic Committee of Russia, and Ayrat Dil’mukhametov, a leader of the Bashkir opposition, to establish a new Nation of Islam movement.   SOURCE ARTICLE

Obama-Farrakhan ties are close, ex-Farrakhan aide says PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 05 November 2008

A former top deputy to Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan tells Newsmax that Barack Obama's ties to the black nationalist movement in Chicago run deep, and that for many years the two men have had "an open line between them" to discuss policy and strategy, either directly or through intermediaries.

"Remember that for years, if you were a politician in Chicago, you had to have some type of relationship with Louis Farrakhan. You had to. If you didn't, you would be ostracized out of black Chicago," said Dr. Vibert White Jr., who spent most of his adult life as a member and ultimately top officer of the Nation of Islam.

White broke with the group in 1995 and is now a professor of African-American history at the University of Central Florida in Orlando.   FULL ARTICLE LINK

Did you know that the Nation of Islam led by the late Hon. Elijah Muhammad was actually started by a Muslim from India, the area now known as Pakistan?  Did you know he came to the United States and moved in and out of African American neighborhoods as a silk peddler? Did you know that he had “an agenda,” an objective, an aim and design to move African Americans away from what he called the “yoke” of Christianity that was wrapped in the cloak of White Supremacy and bring them into the Religion of Islam?   FULL ARTICLE LINK

Is the Nation of Islam Islamic? PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 08 March 2007

The easy answer is no. The more complicated answer is: maybe. Wallace D. Fard founded the Nation of Islam movement in Detroit in 1930.

After the First World War, the Great Migration of southern Blacks to cities like New York, Chicago and Detroit produced a hope for a better future of equality between Blacks and Whites in America.

When this hope fell through, anger and frustration were all that was left. It was in this climate of desperation, as Black Nationalism became more attractive, that the Nation of Islam (NOI) arose.   FULL ARTICLE LINK

Monday, 26 February 2007

Sudan's president told attendees of the Nation of Islam's national conference via satellite Friday that the United States is exaggerating troubles in his country's volatile Darfur region so it can control the country as it has in Iraq. President Omar al-Bashir was invited to speak at the three-day convention by representatives of longtime Nation leader Louis Farrakhan.

Al-Bashir said he was using the address, which also was said to be broadcast live on Sudanese television, to call on the mass media and American public to learn the truth about his country.
